Luckily for the both of us Gabriel is getting used to seeing me point a camera at him and demanding a smile. He gives it up pretty easily...as long as it isn't meal time ;-)

Memorial Day Weekend

Gabriel went to his first pool party this weekend at Kyle & Rachel's. It was a great family friendly event! Although he was decked out in tiny swim trunks the water was too cool to take a dip.

Here I am as Mother of the year ;-)...don't worry I went home and "pumped and dumped."

Morning naps...

One of my favorite parts of the day right now is between 7AM and 10AM. This is when Gabriel and I take our morning nap together. I will miss this the most when I go back to work and will look forward to the weekends! The funny thing is I move him away and he comes right back to this position...I love it!

Growth spurt

Gabriel seems to be going through a bit of a growth spurt this week. His meals are getting bigger (3 1/2 - 4 ounces) and he has been sleeping a little more. We are told that babies grow when they sleep. I hope he gets his daddy's height and not my lack of! I don't think I will ever get sick of him sleeping on my shoulder. I find myself looking for mirrors or grabbing the camera so I can see what he looks like from the other side.

Talking up a storm

Like I said, Gabriel decided to start talking in Sedona and hasn't stopped. He babbles, coos, squeals and laughs. There is nothing like it. Keven and I have got to get a video camera so I can have it forever. I have recorded a few on my phone so that when I go back to work I can hear him anytime I want.

Sleep...

5 straight hours of sleep tonight for the first time! I hope this trend continues!


I have learned that Gabriel really enjoys having his face washed before bed and getting to sleep in footie PJ's...oh and some warm milk seem to be the ticket for a good sleep.

The strange noise

While in Sedona Gabriel seemed to discover "the pump." It was really quite funny. He also, just all in an instant, started to talk to us regularly. I think it was our anniversary gift ;-)

Trip to Sedona

May 12th celebrates our 3rd wedding anniversary (7 years together) so we decided to hit the road for our first family trip and head to Sedona where we said "I do." It was really a neat experience being there with our son all these years later. Amazing where life can take you if you just relax and enjoy the ride.  Gabriel did great in the car, although I had to do alot of backwards reaching to offer comfort and the pacifier. We arrived at gorgeous view point in Sedona just in time for Gabriel to have lunch while we all enjoyed the view and cool weather. 

We did some mild hike/walking and quickly realized that we need some sort of adventure/jog stroller. I think ours is great for the mall and around the neighborhood but not quite cut out for gravel, sand and red rocks. The 3 of us had a relaxing couple of days in Sedona...plenty of sight seeing and window shopping.

D'backs & Dodgers

Gabriel's 2nd game...this time I didn't have quite as much gear. Lessons learned from the first trip. Once again he did fantastic and was quite a hit with everyone around us. Keven was decked out in Dodger gear and me in Diamondbacks...where will Gabriel fall?

First Mother's Day

This year I am celebrating my very first Mother's Day. What an honor! I have only just begun my journey into motherhood and have such a deeper level of respect for my mom. All those kisses and hugs that I once thought I was too cool receive I now shower onto Gabriel. NOW I understand why I had to call everywhere I went, why she would watch me sleep at night and why at the end of every conversation she tells me she loves me...this enormous love that I have for Gabriel is what she has had for 35 years. I hope I can be half the mother that she is.

Keven and Gabriel took me to Flemings Steakhouse for brunch! I was a great day with my boys!...although, I wonder that Gabriel will not know who his mother is since Keven keeps calling me "The Boobie Monster!"

Gabriel's first putter

Grandpa Bob and Grandma Diane visited today. They came bearing gifts, Gabriel's first putter! It may be while before he can hold but that hasn't stopped Grandpa from planning to teach him the game.  Keven teased his dad about not being able to hold Gabriel because he was going to drop him. I kept thinking, is there something you aren't telling me? Has he dropped a baby before?! Nope, just Keven teasing his dad.
